3- STEP AESTHETIC NIGHT ROUTINE:
WASH TONE & MOISTURISE
1. Proper removal of make up on the skin ( picture of face cleansing )
Using gentle milk or micelle based cleanser to emulsify away and remove the make up on the face first. Doing it twice might be necessary if you are using a water-proof make-up. Use a separate one for eye make-up removal, especially if you are wearing mascara.
Is a cleansing wipe good enough?
Cleansing wipe containing micelle or milk based cleanser is as effective in removing make up from the skin. However you might need to fold it into smaller pieces to clean off small ncorners carefully.
Next, wash with normal skin cleanser:
Try to use those with minimal foaming as we know Sodium Laureth Sulphate ( a soapy agent) is toxic to the skin.
2. Toner
Use Alcohol-free soothing toner to wipe off the excess cleansing fluid on the face.
Why avoid alcohol based toner?
Alcohol has been known to dry and irritate the skin, and with prolonged use, can cause allergies due to repeated stripping of the skin’s natural oils. Only very oily skin will benefit from the occasional use of alcohol.
3. Mositurisers
Moisturising agents like lanolin, paraffin, ceramides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid helps to keep the skin supple and hydrated.
AND IF YOU WISH TO GIVE YOURSELF AN EXTRA TREAT:
WHAT ABOUT F A C E S C R U B S ?
What are scrubs for?
Scrubs work like exfoliators to remove excess dead ckin or keratin layers from the skin surface.
Is face scrubs safe?
Skin exfoliations are more suited for those with oily, acne prone and thicker skin type. Some face scrubs contain large rough particles, which with careless usage can cause micro-tears in the skin leading to dryness, flakes, redness and sensitivity.
So if your skin is thin, dry or sensitive avoid using scrubs on your face.
How often should it be done?
Once a week
However it should be kept to a minimum so that the skin would not strip of its natural protective and hydrating layers.
WHAT ABOUT M A S K S ?
Are Masks important?
Masks provides an occlusive cover on the skin to allow faster penetration and locking-in of the active ingredients. The skin is also protected from the dust and pollution of the environment.
Who should not use face masks?
Care has to be exercise on the types of masks used based on the skin types.
Eg. Rich oil- based hydrating masks should be avoided or usage reduced in oily / acne prone or combination skin.
What about over-night masks?
Over-night masks, or sleeper masks are masks that are left on the face overnight, Usually they are popular in countries with a dry climate and in winter like Korea and Japan. They contain light concentrations of ingredients to treat the skin, By leaving on the skin over-night these ingredients get to infiltrate the skin over a few hours compared to the more concentrated ones which are left on for only 20-30 minutes.
